  2. Western pond turtles aren't just turtley awesome, they're also California's only native aquatic freshwater turtle! Ours are back on exhibit, making the most out of soaking up that late summer sunshine. We suggest taking a tip from this one and doing the same this weekend 🕶🐢☀️

  9. Western gulls are some of the most common birds you'll find around the Aquarium. Most birders avoid the term "seagull" since these birds can be found inland as well. However, if you do see a gull over the bay, that's what we like to call a baygull!

  15. The ribboned pipehorse is a cousin to the leafy and weedy sea dragons. These fishes rebel against traditional garb, and are cloaked with branching projections of their skin to blend in with foliose surroundings during covert missions. "Nature, you Scarif!"
